CompuShow Program Description

(Last Updated 30 October, 2000)

CompuShow is a computer program for recording the entry information for cat shows, printing confirmations, show catalogs, judges books and exhibitor lists. Other useful reports, and the ability to keep the show entry open longer by using this program, help keep shows more organized and more $$$ profitable. CompuShow also helps you avoid certain show rule violations.

CompuShow was developed for the IBM PC and its family of compatible computers with at least 512K RAM and two floppy disk drives or a single floppy drive and hard disk. PC/MS-DOS version 2.1 or newer is required. ALMOST all printers are supported (however an impact type printer is required for the judges' books). The programs are NOT copy protected for your convenience.

CompuShow was originally written by Larry Ritter, who was a CFA Master Clerk Instructor, retired CFA Judge, and respected professional programmer. CompuShow is menu driven and has built in detection of show rule errors, making the program easy to use, fast and reliable. It is currently only available for CFA shows.

During the more than 3000 hours of design and development time put into the CompuShow software, we have strived to produce a program that provides not only features that are essential for an entry clerk and show committee, but also features that should make life a lot easier for all those concerned with putting on a show, regardless of their computer or show expertise.

Ease of use features include the use of cursor control keys for full screen editing of data fields and the use of function keys for instant switching between screens. Optionally, information may be entered in either overtype or insert mode in appropriate fields. Help lines and pop up windows also display useful information and provide access to alternative choices.

Although CompuShow is predominantely menu driven, a substantial degree of flexibility has been incorporated to allow for the differing requirements of an individual club's show format. Catalogs may be printed in a wide variety of styles that conform to show rules. Lists of everything from Judges' Dinners to Flat Ribbons required, as well as a variety of mailing labels, may also be printed. All printing output may be directed to either a printer, the screen, or a DOS file with the Multi-Show or Professional use licenses.

The CompuShow diskettes contain the SHOW program, the SETUP program, and the necessary data files for initial use and for demonstration purposes. New or additional files needed may be created by menu selections. Up to 999 exhibitors and 1350 cats may be entered for a single show. The programs come with a 50+ page laser printed manual and friendly TOLL FREE technical support. Our telephone support hours are from 9 am to 5 pm Mon-Fri EASTERN time.

The SETUP program allows you to enter and edit the breed and color class files so that program updates are not required to make necessary changes to these files. The SHOW program allows you to enter the Agent address information and optionally send confirmations to the Agent as indicated on the CFA "Show Entry Form", which we helped to design.

The data from your most recent show entries may also be merged back into the CompuShow data files automatically updating new information for exhibitors and cats already present and adding those that are not. This allows you to build your own set of specialized data files for your use. Lists of exhibitors and/or mailing labels may also be printed based on selective criteria such as zip code ranges, last show date, CFA/Club Status (clerk, breed council, judge, club member), etc.
